Comments about the reunion

Rick & Joyce (Bezold) Gobrecht

“To all our classmates:

The joy and excitement from Saturday night will be with us for a very long time.  We were overwhelmed by the thanks we received during the evening for our efforts at organizing the event.  We believe the return on our investment was better than any we could have hoped for given the outpouring of happiness we witnessed.  And truthfully the effort was by a team of individuals, without whom we could have never made this happen.  From finding people, to finding a place, to getting the entertainment, to preparing nametags, to preparing displays and artwork, to hosting visitors … it was truly a team effort.  We would especially like to recognize Joyce (Gobe) Fidorowicz for the substantial time she put into preparing the slide show that I hope you all had a chance to view and enjoy.  It was special.  Keep in touch.  We’re already starting to think about the next one!!”

Dave and Jena Harvey

“Dear Rick, Joyce and all Committee Members,

Jena and I had a wonderful time at the reunion. It was a special evening, rekindling relationships and memories of happy times at Ridley High. We thank you very much for all of your hard work contacting people and planning a terrific event. What a surprise to see such a turn out-people traveling from so far for the occasion. It was a natural high and I'm still ridin' it. Happy trails 'til we meet again.”

“As Ron Wiernicki said, we have Post-Reunion Blues.  I got home (upstate PA) Monday night after a trying day with my mother and her doctors.  I kept focusing on the great time I had Saturday night and at the fantastic Sunday brunch at Rich Janes' place..  Seeing your class, the class behind ours, was more than special.  For most of you, it had been 41 years.  Since the class of '64 gathers every 5 years, and it usually is the same faces, we all have seen each other and know what to expect.  But, forgive me, class of 65 if I didn't know you or didn't speak to you?  I had no idea until my eyes focused on the name tag!!!

Joyce and Rick and committee: you can be so proud of the outstanding effort from each one of you! Your hard work was evident. The video presentation was awesome, the nametags, the Retrospect booklet, the location, the food, etc...... just perfect. And now, this website!  But, most of all ........... to the classmates who attended and were so friendly to this outsider.......  I thank you for the privilege of being with you.  I was blessed. The memories will be cherished. I will be sending my photos at the end of the week.

I extend an invitation to each of you to attend our class of '64 reunion 4 years from now.  We are skimpy in numbers and really NEED you! Sincerely, Helen Dix Steward dixiechix2@penn.com - please write to me!”

“I do not think that I have ever been in a room with so many people who were so genuinely happy to be together again. I am still smiling as I continue to recall familiar faces, conversations, memories from long ago.  My heartfelt thanks to everyone on the reunion committee for providing all of us with such an unforgettable evening.  I am already wondering how I can possibly wait another five years to have this feeling again.”

Flora Jeanne, who was unable to attend, writes: “Hi all!  How great it was to look at all the pictures from the reunion! We were in Las Vegas at the time attending our son's wedding and taking a little vacation too.  Thanks for the Retrospect.  I enjoyed reading all the comments.  Will try to send a picture or two to you too.”  [Click here to see a picture from the wedding]

“What an outstanding weekend!!!  I can't remember when I've felt so excited and reinvigorated. Special thanks go to Rick and Joyce for heading up the committee.  Without their leadership, I don't think the reunion ever would have gotten off the ground.  And thanks to all of the members of the planning committee: Joyce and Fid, Richard, Jerry, Sandy, Nancy, Lee and Wayne, and Nancy and Ray. The whole thing was beyond terrific! Great job in all respects!  Aside from the evening, I love the website and the In Retrospect.    Also special thanks to Joyce Fidorowicz for the excellent slide show.  I just loved it. All those with whom I viewed it, enjoyed it too. We all shared memories and comments as we viewed it. Every detail was so well planned.  I also have to mention Richard Janes for organizing and hosting the brunch on Sunday.  Delightful!  I was particularly glad that this time, some of us got together the night before and the next morning.  The one thing I remember from our last reunion is that one night just wasn't enough.  I just didn't want the weekend to end.  We had such a great class and went through high school in a special time.  Recalling that with all of you was a real treat.  Can't wait till the next one and hope to keep in touch with a few of you at least.”

“Ruthanne and I wanted to let you know personally how much we both enjoyed the reunion.  We feel indebted to you for what must have been loads of work to organize such a complex event.  To our minds, it went off like a ‘charm’ and the only downside was reading about our fallen and ‘whereabouts unknown’ classmates.  I really enjoyed seeing everyone I spoke with…I especially had long chats with Betty, Nancy and Buddy H. --- all were rewarding.”

“For me it was extra special weekend, because I did not attend the previous two reunions. My hat off to the committee for their excellent affair. It was really great to see some of my old Tinicum swamp rats that I grew up and went to school with a great deal of my life and to all my Parker buddies. My best to all, and let's hope we have another chance to rekindle our friendships in the future.”

“Jo-Ann and I had a wonderful time at the reunion.  It was a memorable evening, reconnecting with old friends and reliving all the good times we had at RPHS.  I especially want to thank Rick & Joyce and the members of the committee who worked so hard to make this the best reunion yet.  Great job everyone!  Can't wait for the next reunion in 2010.”

Ann “Peanuts” (McBride) Eckerd

“I would like to thank the committee for doing such a wonderful job!!  Needless to say, I had a wonderful time, Friday, Saturday & Sunday.  Special thanks to Rich for a great get together the morning after (if you read this Rich, I left my jean shirt at your place). Brunch was great! It was absolutely wonderful to see such a great turn-out!  I really got the feeling that everyone seemed happy to get together and remember some the times of our lives, when life was simple, easy and carefree!! (for the most part!) Rekindling old friendships and making plans for future plans for get togethers was a lot of fun. Even though our lives have gone separate ways over all these years, I feel very fortunate to be able to meet up with friends from our high school years and be able to go back to a time of such fun and life's simple problems! It was great to see and talk to everyone and look forward to our next get together. Again many thanks and appreciation to the committee and thanks Joyce for the slide show, I know everyone appreciated it and your time and effort putting it together … P.S.  glad to have all the e-mail addresses, it will be nice to drop  friends a few lines from time to time, just to say hi.  Looking forward to next get together, a week-end plan at the beach, etc, would be fun??  Count me in!”
